What is NGO Darpan?
“NGO-Darpan is a free online platform launched by NITI Aayog in partnership with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) that serves as a transparent interface between NGOs and the Government of India — enabling accountability, credibility, and access to funding.”
NGO Darpan (meaning NGO Mirror) is an official Government of India web portal available at ngodarpan.gov.in. Launched to bring transparency and efficiency to civil society organisations, it connects NGOs, Voluntary Organisations (VOs), and other bodies with Central Government ministries and departments.
Any NGO or voluntary body wishing to receive grants or funding from Central Government Ministries or Departments is mandatorily required to be registered on this portal and hold a valid Unique ID (UID).

WHO CAN APPLY (Eligibility)
- NGO must be legally registered (Trust / Society / Section 8 Company)
- Should have active bank account in NGO name
- Preferably 1–3 years of operational history
- Proper documentation & compliance maintained
- Valid PAN & basic KYC of office bearers
Important: Your organisation must already be legally registered (as a society, trust, or Section 8 company) before applying on NGO Darpan. The portal does not provide primary legal registration.

- Registration Certificate (Society/Trust/Section 8 Company)
- PAN Card of the NGO(Mandatory)
- Trust Deed / MOA / AoA (as applicable)
- 12A & 80G Certificate (if available)
- Bank Account Details (Cancelled cheque / Passbook copy)
- Audited Accounts (Last 3 Years)
- Annual Reports (Last 3 Years)
- List of Governing Body (with contact details)
- Aadhaar of Key Person (Aadhaar of the Chief Functionary (head)
- Project / Activity Details (ongoing & completed)
- FCRA Registration (if applicable)
- Office Address Proof (Utility bill / Rent Agreement / Ownership proof)
How can Apply : Step by Step
1. Visit the Official Portal
Go to ngodarpan.gov.in — the only official NITI Aayog portal. Avoid third-party agents or lookalike websites.
2. Sign Up / Register Account
Click ‘Sign Up’ and register using your NGO’s official email ID. An OTP will be sent for verification.
3. Login & Fill Organisation Details
Fill in your NGO’s name, type (Trust / Society / Section 8), registration number, date, and state of registration.
4. Enter Chief Functionary Details
Add name, Aadhaar number, PAN, and contact details of the head of your NGO. This is mandatory.
5. Upload Documents
Upload scanned copies of all required documents in PDF/JPEG format. File sizes should be under 2 MB each.
6. Fill Activity & Project Details
Mention key sectors of your work (education, health, women empowerment, etc.) and list ongoing or past projects
7. Submit the Application
Review all information carefully. Click ‘Submit.’ Registration is completely FREE — no payment required at any step.
8. Receive Your Unique ID (UID)
After verification, your NGO receives a Unique ID (e.g., DL/2024/0123456). This UID is needed for all government grants.
